Study Saver Ltd
Last updated: May 2026
Who we are
Study Saver Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17200511. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
You can contact us at [email protected] with any questions or requests relating to your personal data.
We operate in compliance with the UK GDPR and will be registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller before our public launch.
What personal data we collect and why
We collect and process the following personal data:
Your email address. We collect this when you create a Study Saver account. We use it to:
- Create and manage your account
- Send you a verification link when you register
- Send you service-related communications (for example, notifications about your subscription or changes to this policy)
- Process your subscription payment via our payment provider
The only information we ask you to provide is your email address. We do not collect any data about the documents or files you back up. Your backups are encrypted before they leave your device. We can only access their contents with your consent — for example, at your explicit request for support — or when required by law.
If you contact us by email, we will also hold the personal data contained in that correspondence, including your name and email address as they appear in your message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry and do not retain it beyond that purpose.
If you sign up using a referral link, we record that association to credit the referring user.
We may also use account data to understand how our service is used and inform operational decisions.
From time to time we may send you emails about getting the most from Study Saver, such as tips, reminders, or updates about the service. We will always include an unsubscribe option and will honour any request to stop immediately.
Our lawful basis for processing
We process your personal data on the following bases:
Contract — processing your email address is necessary to provide the Study Saver service you have subscribed to. Without it, we cannot create your account, verify your identity, or manage your subscription.
Legitimate interests — we may occasionally send you emails about getting the most from Study Saver, such as tips, reminders, or updates about the service. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in communicating with existing customers about our own service, balanced against your right to opt out at any time.
Who we share your data with
We share your email address with the following third parties:
Stripe, Inc. — our payment processor. Stripe receives your email address as part of processing your subscription payment. Stripe is a data processor acting on our instructions. You can read Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
Scaleway SAS — our transactional email provider. Scaleway receives your email address solely to deliver service emails such as your verification link and subscription confirmations. Scaleway is a data processor acting on our instructions, operating from France within the European Union.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third party for any purpose.
International transfers
Your account data is stored on servers located in the United Kingdom.
Transactional emails are sent via Scaleway, operating within the European Union. The EU benefits from an adequacy decision under UK GDPR, meaning it provides an equivalent level of data protection to the UK. No additional safeguards are required for this transfer.
We do not transfer your backup data outside the UK or the European Union. It never leaves these jurisdictions.
Stripe processes payment data in the United States. For transfers from the UK to the US, Stripe relies on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework — a formal agreement between the UK and US governments that requires US companies to meet UK-equivalent data protection standards. Stripe is certified under this framework. Details are available in Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
How long we keep your data
We retain your email address for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and request deletion of your account, we will delete your email address within 30 days, unless we are required to retain it for longer by law (for example, for tax or financial record-keeping purposes, where we may retain transaction records for up to 7 years).
Cookies and tracking
Study Saver does not use cookies or any tracking technology on this website. We do not use analytics services that track individual users. We do not serve advertising.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
The right to access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
The right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
The right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data. We will do so unless we have a lawful reason to retain it.
The right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your personal data in certain circumstances.
The right to object — you can object to our processing of your personal data. Where we process on the basis of legitimate interests, we must stop unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests. You have an absolute right to object to your data being used for direct marketing.
The right to data portability — you can request your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, except where we process it on the basis of legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within one calendar month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Security
Your documents are encrypted on your device before transmission. We will never access your backed-up files unless you specifically ask us to for technical support, or if required by law. Your account password cannot be read or recovered by us.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
Changes to this policy
We will notify you by email if we make any material changes to this policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
